Editorial Policy
How we source, verify, write and maintain content on ShopFloorWeekly.
Vendor neutrality
ShopFloorWeekly does not accept payment for product rankings, sponsored content, or favourable editorial treatment. Our coverage of software products is based on published specifications, publicly available pricing, and documented capabilities — not on vendor relationships. When we cover a product, we state who it is for and who it is not for. When we recommend a product, we state the specific criteria it met.
We disclose commercial relationships at the top of any page where they exist. Currently, ShopFloorWeekly has no affiliate relationships with software vendors. If that changes, every page containing an affiliate link will carry a prominent disclosure.
Sourcing standards
Every factual claim on ShopFloorWeekly links to a primary source: the vendor's own documentation, a regulatory agency publication, a standards body document, or peer-reviewed research. We do not use secondary sources (other content websites) as evidence for factual claims.
For software pricing and specifications: we use vendor pricing pages or publicly available documentation. We note the basis of our information ("based on vendor documentation and published pricing as of [Month YYYY]") and we date every price or specification claim. We do not claim hands-on testing of software we have not tested.
For regulatory and standards content: we link directly to primary sources (ISO.org, Federal Register, USTR, European Commission, etc.) and we note the date of research. Regulations and standards change; we update articles when material changes occur.
Fact-checking process
Before any article publishes, the editorial team completes a fact-check pass: every factual claim is matched to a source URL and verified. Claims that cannot be verified against a primary source are removed. The article does not publish until the fact-check is complete and all claims are confirmed.
Use of AI-assisted research and writing
ShopFloorWeekly uses AI-assisted tools in the research and writing process. We use these tools to draft content, structure arguments, and search for relevant information. We do not publish AI-generated content without human editorial review and fact-checking against primary sources.
Our commitment: AI tools are used to increase efficiency and coverage, not to scale the production of low-quality or unverified content. Every article published on ShopFloorWeekly is reviewed against the sourcing and fact-checking standards described here, regardless of how it was drafted.
Update schedule
Every article shows a published date and a last-updated date. We update articles when:
- A product price or pricing structure changes materially
- A product is discontinued or a new major version is released
- A regulation or standard is revised
- A reader reports an error that we confirm is correct
- Our own monitoring detects that a claim has become outdated
We update the "Last updated" date only when content materially changes — not for cosmetic edits or minor phrasing adjustments. Significant corrections are also logged in the corrections log.
Corrections policy
We investigate every error report. If a claim is confirmed to be wrong, we correct it promptly, log the correction in the corrections log, and update the article's "Last updated" date. We do not silently delete incorrect content — we correct it and note what changed.
To report an error: contact us with the URL of the page, the claim in question, and your evidence or source for the correction.
Images and media
All images on ShopFloorWeekly are either original graphics created by the editorial team (SVG diagrams, charts, calculation examples), freely licensed photographs from Unsplash or Pexels, or Wikimedia Commons images with applicable licences (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA). We do not copy images from other websites. Image sources are logged in image credits.
